- Are your systems manufactured in the UK?
Courtney Thorne is a UK based company with our own in house R&D team. Manufacturing is based around 3 locations in the South of the UK.
- What support options are available?
All new systems are provided with a 12 or 36 month warranty. Beyond this we offer 4 levels of service contract from a budget 2 star to an all encompassing 5 star service. Our engineers are available 24/7 365 day per year, 95% of calls for assistance are resolved the same day.
- Are Courtney Thorne nurse call and call bell systems approved?
The design and manufacture of all Courtney Thorne nurse call and call bell products comply with all healthcare regulations and are fully approved by heath authorities and social services across the UK.
Our Altra Health and Connect Health ranges for the hospital market are fully HTM 08-03 compliant and in line with Department of Health specification for products used as Bedhead Services in UK Hospitals.
One of the most important elements is the statutory requirement for hospital management/decision makers to ensure that bedhead services are safe, fit for purpose, and comply with all statutes, relevant codes of practice and standards. - Are Courtney Thorne nurse call systems interference free?
Safeguards have been built into all Courtney Thorne nurse call systems. Our software screens out any unwanted signals from emergency services, mobile phones and other radio transmissions so you can be assured of interference-free service at all times.

- How long does it take to install a wireless nurse call system?
This depends upon how large the system is. Typically a small care home or Hospital ward system can be installed in 1-2 days. Even the largest care homes or complex hospital systems do not take more than 4-5 days to complete.
- Can I finance a wireless nurse call system?
Courtney Thorne can provide you with Leasing options which spread the cost over 2-5 years and come with HM Gov Tax benefits.
- Can I upgrade my wireless nurse call system?
Courtney Thorne systems are very easily added to should additional beds be required. During a service systems will automatically have the software upgraded to the current version.
- What are the benefits of using Cat 1 Radio?
When wireless nurse call systems are deployed in acute hospital sites where there are other wireless devices in the vicinity there needs to be assurance that there will be no interference which could lead to one or the other service not operating correctly. European Standards categorises Short Range radio Devices in terms of their reliability, robustness and susceptibility to interferences. Cat 1 radio is described in the European Standard as “to be used where the short range device may have inherent safety of human life implications”.
CT Cloud
- Do you offer training for CT Cloud remote nurse call reporting?
Yes, we can provide this remotely to your management staff and go through the reports available.
- Can I use CT Cloud remote nurse call reporting across all my care home sites?
Yes, providing that all installations incorporate a Courtney Thorne Touch Screen server and there is Wi Fi or a minimum 3G mobile data signal available then any system can be linked to the CT Cloud.
Warranties
- Do the Courtney Thorne wireless nurse call systems come with a warranty?
The Altra range of wireless nurse call systems comes with a three-year warranty. All other products benefit from a one-year warranty.
- Which Warranty applies to which system?
Altra Health and Altra Care come with a 3-year warranty and rather like the warranty for a car it is valid providing the system is serviced by Courtney Thorne in years 2 and 3. All other systems each come with a 12 month warranty after which we will contact you to offer you one of our 3, 4 or 5 Star service plans.
- What is covered by the Warranty?
The Warranty covers all Courtney Thorne manufactured parts (e.g. screens, room/bedside/bathroom units, door contacts etc). It does not cover any products supplied with the system that were not manufactured by Courtney Thorne (e.g. bed/chair/floor mats, IR sensors etc).
