Courtney Thorne Continues To Expand Their International Footprint

Courtney Thorne’s Export business has grown by over 100% during the last couple of years, with Nurse Call system sales coming from our partners across Europe, and Asia, and more recently we’ve seen enquiries from many UK Commonwealth countries. The Falkland Islands could not be much further away from the UK and we are very proud to have won a recent tender to supply a new Altra Health Nurse Call system for The King Edward VII Memorial Hospital in Stanley. The hospital, the only such facility on the islands has a full range of services including medical, dental, nursing (including midwives and community nurses), with allied health professional and engineering staff all qualified to UK standards or recognised equivalents. Wherever possible, the hospital adheres to UK standards/guidelines for medical practice.

Courtney Thorne welcomed the Hospital’s Engineering and Estates Manager Martyn Barlow and Medical Engineering Apprentice Daniel Cant to our Bournemouth head office where they spent 2 full days seeing how their Nurse Call System was manufactured and programmed. This was followed by a series of intensive training with Steve Richardson, Courtney Thorne’s Support and Training Engineer. Martyn and Daniel were given the opportunity to see up close how the system worked and get ‘hands-on’ experience with real life scenarios, so that they will be able to install and maintain the Altra Health Nurse Call system themselves with remote support from the UK if necessary.

Martyn and Daniel described the visit as “A great experience” and that they’re “looking forward to getting their hands on the kit once back home”

We thoroughly enjoyed hosting them here in Bournemouth and look forward to a fruitful working relationship with everyone at The King Edward VII Hospital. With this in mind, whilst they were here some exciting opportunities were discussed, more on this at a later date.
