Courtney Thorne and Dragon’s Heart Hospital
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic we at Courtney Thorne have been working throughout the UK, (and across the Globe) delivering and installing Wireless Nurse Call solutions into emergency wards, hospitals, and care homes.
Our work at Dragon’s Heart Hospital
One of the largest temporary Field Hospitals was the Dragon’s Heart Hospital inside the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. This vast stadium initially housed 335 emergency beds, however, when a more complex solution was required for subsequent phases, Courtney Thorne was approached to supply, install and commission over 1000 additional nurse call points spread throughout the pitch and seating areas. Over the ensuing 7 days, nurse call points (including shower and toilet alarms) were installed and programmed by Courtney Thorne’s own engineering team. Designed into more than 55 separate “wards” each with its own nurse station display and integrated with a paging system with 40 pagers. It was a herculean effort by everyone involved.
The level of logistical prowess, ingenuity and dogged determination shown was incredible and is admirably described in a letter we had the great pleasure in receiving following the completion of the whole hospital site
